Adam and I have been to this place time and again, once as eat-in and twice as take-out, and had memorable experiences regardless. The first time we ate in waiters were attentive and the meal was the best Thai we’ve had in Orlando by far.
I ordered the Tom Yum Goong soup, which is was full of thick and juicy shrimp and mushrooms in a lightly hot and sour broth. The freshness of the ingredients, especially the lemon grass really set off the rest of the dish. Their soups are generous in size so if you order an entrée from here on in, there will be left overs.
The first time I ate in with my boyfriend and ordered the Chicken Eggplant entrée, which completely shocked me with the juicy, flavorful eggplant! It’s very easy to overcook eggplant until it’s no longer juicy or firm, but the scrumptious, light sauce of this dish seeps into the eggplant and bamboo in a satisfying way.
My favorite entrée at G & G Thai is the Honey Duck. Served over a bed of veggies and pineapple, there’s a surprisingly delicate sweetness to this dish that immediately had me in its thrall. You would think the sauce would be overpoweringly sweet, especially with the accompanying fresh pineapple, but you would be wrong! Plus, the duck is oh-so-crispy but well marinated that it cannot disappoint either eat-in or take-out.
Another good entrée is the Sweet and Sour Pork, which you would immediately expect to be a dull, familiar hold-over but G & G really makes the simplest dish an experience. The sauce was again light but coated all the fresh veggies and pork strips nicely, and there was also a subtle hotness to the dish that was an extra treat.
G & G Thai’s appetizers, soups, and entrées are so good that neither my boyfriend or I have ever had room for dessert! But with the large menu, quality meals, and nice staff we’re only more than happy to go back.
